Thoroughly Modern Santa! The Robroyston Church Christmas Fayre went well. Kids bought front door keys for Santa as their
house had no chimney....isn't that sweet?....I imagine the locksmith will be busy this week - Key stuck in lock
you say? Be right there! People mingled, laughed and generally acted unlike themselves for a bit...by that I mean Robroystoners
(other than the local dog walkers) took time to talk to each other.
Maybe I am being a bit harsh.....judging
other as I (briefly) see them before they go into the house and shut the door. Events such as the Christmas Fayre and the Community Council Fun Day bring out the best in us....let's face it, there isn't much else going on and
we don't live in a wee village where everyone knows what the Vicars wife said to the baker...........from what I
gather there was no knead to mix it anyway!...or a meringue (boom boom tchhh!)
Robroyston is no Auchtermuchty,
indeed Forfar Ecclefechan, it's Scone the way of most modern suburbs and is only going to get bigger.
This
week sees the start of public consultation on the future plans for our area....most of the new building will surround the
Glendale Estate and the Millerston side of the M80. If we want to see outdoor space and countryside we can enjoy,
we need to ensure the developers hear our opinions...and not just those of the Vicars' wife! We will never
be that small country village but we can ensure that the areas around us are made available for walking, cycling and
enjoying views of our lovely countryside....now that's enough of my rambling (geddit?)

Emotional weather report (Hello there) Yes indeed. In this climate of variable pressures I grasped the wind of
change and showered the web site with a little sunshine (who says we are obsessed with the weather - Heather?)
Hopefully the momentum will continue and hits will continue to rise....although I would prefer that people actually
came to the meetings instead of staying at home hitting the site! So what is new other than the web site design....well
the great, big, huge, massive, gargantuan, quite big housing development may well be and the roadshow will be coming
to a Robroyston Church (Saughs Road, Glendale) near you!!!!
Ah the memories of roadshows..... I went
to a Radio One Roadshow in George Square when I was younger and said "Oooh! Gary Davies" with the rest of trendy
Glasgow! Do you think the housing development roadshow would mind me shouting"Oooh! Stewart Milne"...whilst
wearing day glo socks and a pair of Hi Tecs. I could even bring along the dodgy sunglasses I wore at the time and have
my Sony Walkman tape player on auto reverse!
Cool or what? (No answers on a postcard please - just comment
on the website...nuff said!)
p.s. Kudos to those who got the Tom Waits reference.

Leaps and Bounds... ...just like a Mad March Hare in November!!
The Glendale Estate trustees and the City
Council have finally finished wrangling legally (as you do) and the common grounds in Glendale Estate are now to be
maintained - in perpetuity - by the City Council. Lawks a mercy - I never thought we would see the day!
The City Council is looking seriously at our traffic problems and potential for accidents at Standburn Road/Hillhead
road and the Orchard Park Estate is in the middle of a grand refurbishment of railings round the play areas
to keep them tidy, safe and secure for the kids. On top of all that, we have started the process of planing
a new play area!!
Some people get disheartened when the Community Council seem to talk about and discuss the same
issues time after time, but it is only in persisting that we finally see results - what a great day for Robroyston.
Long live the persistent cry of "is it done yet? is it done yet? is it done yet?......"
